A foundation model is the brains behind GenAI. It’s a model that is trained on vast amounts of data so that you can submit requests to the model to find answers to a massive amount of questions. The models can be single modal (e.g. text only) or multi-modal (e.g. text and imagery).
This diagram outlines all the components involved in building a foundation model.
This shows how an AI application sends responses and gets answers back from a foundation model such as GPT.
All requests coming from Microsoft Apps goes through Microsoft Graph which understands the user that is asking the question and has access to a lot of other information about the organisation.
This diagram outlines the various components of the data layer within the foundation model.
